A Stress Free Christmas

My Glamorous Mom Life

Thanksgiving and Christmas are upon us, just around the corner! (wow!) This time of year is wonderful and beautiful to me. The decorations, thankfulness, gifts, Jesus’ birth celebration, time with family, Christmas movies, and so much more, are just some of the things to look forward to. We get so excited once November 1st gets here and turn on Jingle Bells and Silent Night, then we get the tree up and start buying gifts. #Christmastime #besttimeofyear

But then we start stressing over getting a perfect Thanksgiving meal cooked, figuring out who’s having dinner with who and where and when. Getting your kids exactly what they want or you think they want, figuring out your Christmas day schedule and so on. We. Get. BUSY! We get so busy that we forget what this time of year is about, and we get stressed and don’t “enjoy” the holidays.

Know this, everything doesn’t have to be perfect, everybody doesn’t have to get EVERY item on their Christmas list, YOU don’t have to do everything. Take time this season to relax and truly enjoy this time of year. Drink some hot chocolate and watch Charlie Brown Christmas, or Santa Claus Is Coming To Town. Maybe you like the Santa Claus movies or Home Alone, whatever makes you relax and enjoy Christmas. Take a day to watch Hallmark Christmas movies all day, eat some Christmas cookies or Pumpkin pie. Read your children the Christmas story, make ornaments together. Just do SOMETHING to make this time of year peaceful and enjoyable for you.

One thing I quit doing is Black Friday shopping, it’s just crazy and stressful. Plus, I mean most of what’s on “sale” you can get throughout the year for the same price, trust me I worked retail. That’s one less thing for me to stress over. Another thing I do is we as a family take a whole day to put up decorations and the tree together, we have Christmas music, apple spice desert, and watch Christmas movies afterwards. This year we read the Christmas story to my 10 month old. It was a great fun family day. No stress. (amen to that)

So, figure out what YOU need to do to put less stress on yourself and your family and ENJOY this busy, fun time of year. Always remember, prayer is the best stress reliever! Have a thankful Thanksgiving, a merry Christmas, and a blessed New Year.

Keep being glamorous and always remember Proverbs 31,
